Allison Cazenave is now a board-certified specialist in oncology nutrition by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Cazenave, who works as a clinical dietician at the Mary Bird Perkins TGMC Cancer Center, is one of eight in the state of Louisiana and the only one in the Houma-Thibodaux area with this certification.
Clinical dietitians help patients maintain their nutrition in order to maximize their strength while undergoing treatment and after treatment. TGMC s cancer center dietitians also focus on helping to provide nutritional services that take into the side effects of cancer treatment. 
The certification requires the completion of at least 2,000 hours in oncology nutrition in less than two years, followed by a certification exam. To maintain the certification, the dietitian must take the certification exam every five years. ....
