Forty Percent Jump in Gamma Beta Phi Inductees | Beaufort County Now

Members of the honor society achieve academic success, and they also take on projects that help some of the most in need in our community. The number of new inductees jumped 40 percent over the 2020 inductees, even as maintaining a 3.5 GPA became more difficult for students during a tumultuous academic year.

Six courses have now earned the Blackboard Exemplary Course Award keeping BCCC in the lead for most award-winning courses in eastern North Carolina. The college has also implemented the BCCC Online Certification Program, which works in conjunction with the ECP and provides additional training for participants.

CARES Federal Relief Funding Helps 305 Students | Beaufort County Now

Press Release: Roxanne Tate (left, who has since graduated) and Matthew White received CARE Act relief to help them continue their education during the COVID pandemic.     WASHINGTON, N.C.     Hundreds of Beaufort County Community College students completed classes despite great obstacles caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and shutdowns due to its effects. The federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act provided $347,710 in financial assistance to 305 students who were affected by the disruption of the delivery of instruction due to COVID-19. Students can still access state-funded Finish Line grants to address similar emergencies.     The broader CARES Act provided Paycheck Protection Programs and direct stimulus checks to all qualifying residents, helping many people in the BCCC community stay in their homes, get small business loans and counseling, and deal with upheaval related to work, childcare and education. BCCC Announces Spring 2021 Scholarship Recipients

Press Release:     The Beaufort County Community College Foundation is proud to announce the following scholarship recipients for the Spring 2021 semester. Eight-week, online Late Start classes start on March 8, and they are still open for registration. Before applying for scholarships, all applicants must complete a FAFSA. The Financial Aid Office will hold two virtual sessions to help students complete their FAFSA on Tuesday, February 16 from 9:00 AM–11:00 AM and Thursday, February 18 from 2:00 PM–4:00 PM.     Justin Banks, 22, received the BCCC Board of Trustees Scholarship. The Chocowinity resident is working toward an Associate in Arts. Banks attended Calvary Baptist Church School, and he plans attend East Carolina University to earn a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health. He is the husband of Stephen Peed. He currently works as a seasonal sales associate at Belk.

The Chocowinity resident is working toward an Associate in Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology. The son of Robbie and Stacy Bullock, he attended Southside High School. He currently works as a perishable associate at Food Lion and plans to perform maintenance at an industry.     The David Clark Endowment was established in 2011 by Trader Construction Company-New Bern, NC and Potash Corp-Aurora, NC in memory of David Clark. David was a Trader Construction Company superintendent with more than 30 years of industrial construction experience. He was an exemplary employee and excellent role model for his fellow co-workers.
