Zavala Elementary receives $21,000 grant for new teacher wellness room

Zavala elementary school is receiving $21,000 from the Corpus Christi American Federation of Teachers for the construction of a garden area and a wellness and calm room for teachers. 
The funding comes as a requested COVID-19 response grant from the American Federation of Teachers. 
The stress on teachers right now is overwhelming, it s never been seen before, CCAFT President Nancy Vera said. They need a place to relax, they need a place to unwind and to get themselves together.  
The soundproof room will provide teachers with access to diffusers, a white noise machine, massage chairs and dim lighting. The garden area will consist of a greenhouse, benches and space for outside privacy.  ....
