The parliamentary panel has raised concerns over the slow pace of Covid-19 vaccination in India, saying with the current rate it will take many years to vaccinate the entire population in the county.
The department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affair in its 231st report on demand for grants for 2021-23 said: “The panel takes note of the ongoing vaccination process for Covid-19 and observes that, till now, less than 1 per cent of the Indian population has been vaccinated and at this rate it will take many years to vaccinate the entire population.” ....

Home Ministry: Women's Day: MHA says Rs 200 cr given to states to set up women help desks in police stations


Later, in a statement, the home ministry said to enhance safety and security of women in the country, it has taken several initiatives which are funded by the Nirbhaya Fund.
A separate women safety division has also been set up in the home ministry to sensitise states and UTs on women safety related issues including timely completion of investigation of sexual assault cases, it said.
“The government has sanctioned Rs 200 crore to states and UTs to set up Women Help Desks in police stations, and to set up or strengthen Anti Human Trafficking Units in all districts of the country as also on vulnerable borders,” the statement said. ....
