Hertfordshire Mark Masons donate car to blood bike service

A car that delivers blood transfusions, breast milk for newborn babies and Covid test results around the clock is already making emergency deliveries after a charitable donation.
The Mark Masons of Hertfordshire have fully funded and donated a new blood car to complement the existing Service by Emergency Response Volunteers (SERV) Herts and Beds Blood Bikes.
The blood bikes - and the new car - operate 24/7 providing services including delivering blood for transfusions, breast milk for babies in neo-natal care and, more recently, coronavirus test samples and antibody tests.
The service runs 24 hours a day, manned by four drivers and a controller. Its 70 volunteers deal with around 7,000 calls for assistance a year. ....

Youngsters in Holly Ward at Hinchingbrooke Hospital now have plenty to keep them entertained, thanks to a team of volunteers.
Members of Volunteer Blood Runners - Service by Emergency Response Volunteers (SERV) - dropped off a range of arts and crafts activities, playdough, colouring books and puzzle books.
Holly Ward reported that providing play at present is very different as the resources that they have at present are single use and play areas are not open, said Pete Brindley from SERV.
A group of volunteers stepped up to the mark coming from Bury, Ramsey, Peterborough and Soham and with the help of local community via social media provided items to the hospital. ....
