Nearly 100 golfers participated in the 32nd Annual Chick Schaffner Memorial Charity Golf Classic on Monday. As usual, it was a tremendous event. The tournament has raised nearly $300,000 for its signature beneficiaries Stein Hospice and the American Heart Association. Much thanks to our sponsors, especially Materion.

There is good news on the Covid-19 front in Ottawa County. Our death total is now up to 73 deaths, up only one from last week. Also, there were only a total of eight additional cases in the county in the same time frame.
The incidence of the virus is considerably lower here than in the rest of Ohio, over 20% lower. The Ottawa County Health Department is moving forward with distributing the vaccine.
Happy 40th Anniversary on Monday for Jeff and Joan Bryden. Jeff was Editor for the North Coast Business Journal for many years, and also was President of the Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce. Joan was a radio host on WPCR and was also President of the Kiwanis Club of Port Clinton. They live in Sarasota, Fla. now.
COVID-19 vaccine for 80, older to continue in Ottawa County on Jan. 28-29
Ottawa County will continue to receive a limited number of COVID-19 vaccine from the State of Ohio in the following weeks. Vaccination of group 1B for 80 years and older will continue on Jan. 28-29 until completed.
Those people 75 and older will be added as vaccine becomes available.
Approximately 420 Ottawa County residents were vaccinated this past week. However, demand for the vaccine still greatly exceeds its availability. There are more than 900 Ottawa County residents over the age of 80 currently registered and awaiting their vaccination.
Providers in Ottawa County include the Ottawa County Health Department, Magruder Hospital, and Kroger Pharmacy. The Ottawa County Health Department and Magruder Hospital will continue contacting those that have pre-registered on the Ottawa County Health Department’s website to arrange appointments for vaccinations.
