STAR of Live at the Apollo, Would I Lie to You?, QI, Have I Got News for You and 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Chris McCausland has announced a 36-date tour including a performance in Otley. “I’ve barely been more than a mile from my house since March 2020,” says Chris, “so this national tour will now feel like the biggest adventure ever undertaken by a human being since Captain Scott set off to reach the South Pole. I can’t wait though, and I don’t think my wife can wait for me to have a reason to leave the house either. It’s a stand-up show. I don’t sing or dance, I talk into a microphone and we all have a good night - and my wife gets some much-needed respite.” ....
The box office is now open Monday – Friday from 10am-12pm and 12.30 – 2.30pm. Outside of these hours a message can be left on the answer machine by calling 01943 467466 and someone will call you back. The Courthouse cafe remains closed for now but will reopen in due course. THE SOOTHING sounds of local wildlife will guide listeners around a sonic nature trail in Otley. Using recordings of everyday spaces as well as birds and animals living in and around the town, artist James Hamilton is developing Eavesdrop, a high tech sound installation that will take walkers into the animal kingdom as they stroll round some of Otley s best-known landmarks. The sound installation is one of a string of projects being backed by the Leeds Inspired grants scheme, which supports the city’s arts and cultural activities Part of Leeds City Council, Leeds Inspired has been championing arts events and projects in Leeds since 2012. ....
OTLEY Science Cafe will take place this week in a live streamed online event. The cafe, at Otley Courthouse will start at 7.30pm on Thursday, March 18. Online booking is required at www.otleycourthouse.org.uk at a cost of £5 per household. On its website the courthouse says the event will feature an exciting line up. It adds: Don’t miss the opportunity to fire questions at top scientists from around the region as they set out to encapsulate a key idea in just 10-15 mins and 20 slides.
