Belfast Seeks Poet Laureate Applicants

The Poet Laureate Committee of Belfast is seeking applicants from Waldo County to serve as the Poet Laureate of Belfast. The ideal candidates should be, according to a news release, “a clever, productive, thoughtful, colorful and well-worded poet to express and convey a poet’s vision of Belfast” and “excited about organizing public poetry activities and serving on the steering committee of the Annual Belfast Poetry Festival.” The application deadline is March 15.
Applicants should send a one-page resume, including two samples of their poetry, prior volunteer experiences, a statement of why they are interested in the role and a description of their vision for local poetry activities, that is, how they will “Be Belfastian.” ....
