Now, the wait for new music is over.
Today, we are sharing a ‘virtual’ performance of Vivaldi’s Gloria from the acclaimed Bearsden Choir.
Under the directorship of Andrew Nunn, the choir strove to keep music alive during the lockdowns by rehearsing weekly on Zoom video calls.
This evolved into ‘inspire’ sessions followed by a first venture into online production which produced two movements from their cancelled Mendelssohn s Elijah concert with more than 90 members of the Choir uploading videos of themselves singing alone in their homes. The resulting videos of ‘He that shall endure to the end’ and ‘He, watching over Israel’ can be found on the Choir’s YouTube Channel. ....

Bearsden Choir: Meet George Swann | HeraldScotland

George Swann, 20, is from Paisley and a baritone. He is hoping to make a career as a composer.
“I grew up in a musical family and I’ve always been around singing, although I actually studied piano and cello first and came to singing a bit later on. Paisley Grammar School had a fantastic music department and I am now studying music at Glasgow University, composition specifically. I have just finished my third year and my hope is to become more involved in the Scottish composition scene and do some conducting work as well. When I was younger the Scottish Chamber Orchestra played a piece of mine, and I’ve conducted youth orchestras in Paisley as well as some small choral groups.” ....

Adrienne Girvan, who sings second alto, has been a teacher of business studies and economics, a University of Glasgow administrator, and a legal secretary in her working life. Music has been part of that life since school, and she took a Diploma in Music at the Open University. She is a long-time Dr Who fan and joined Bearsden Choir four years ago.
How did you begin singing, and become involved in Bearsden Choir?
“At school we rehearsed a very varied repertoire to a very high standard, and I also learned to play piano and flute. Choral music has been a major part of my post-school life as a member of Strathclyde and Glasgow University Choral Societies. ‘Come and Sing’ charity events conducted by Christopher Bell, Bob Chilcott and John Rutter have all been enjoyable learning experiences. ....
