GIBSONTON, Fla. - Jasina Campbell, 12, loved sleepovers at her grandmother’s house, babysitting her younger siblings and having fun on the water. But her day of tubbing last May on the Alafia River would end tragically. Investigators say she was struck and killed by drunk boater Andrew Miltner.
At a virtual hearing, prosecutor Stephanie Pizarro told the judge Miltner admitted to drinking while out on the water.
He then mounted this Jet Ski and was witnessed driving it in a reckless manner, said Pizarro. ....

TAMPA, Fla. â The Hillsborough County State Attorney has charged a boater for the death of a 12-year-old girl on the Alafia River.
State Attorney Andrew Warren announced the charges following several months of investigation at a news conference on Monday.
Warren said, Andrew Miltner, 40, has been charged with Boating Under the Influence and Vessel Homicide in the death of Jasina Campbell. ....

TAMPA A boater faces criminal charges for the death of a 12-year-old girl who was tubing in the Alafia River last May.
Hillsborough State Attorney Andrew Warren says 40-year-old Andrew Miltner will face a charge of Boating Under the Influence - Manslaughter and a charge of vessel homicide. Those two charges will eventually merge , Warren said, but will give prosecutors options as they pursue a conviction. Miltner could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
On May 17, 2020, according to Warren and state Fish and Wildlife agents, Miltner was under the influence and speeding when his waverunner struck a tube being pulled behind a boat, killing Jasina Campbell and injuring another person in the tube. His blood alcohol level was measured at .06, four hours after the crash. ....
