CAC 40 Gains On Recovery Hopes
BRUSSELS/FRANKFURT/PARIS (dpa-AFX) - French stocks advanced on Tuesday as upbeat jobs and service sector activity data released overnight added to evidence the economic recovery is gaining momentum in the United States.
Investors, meanwhile, shrugged off concerns about rising coronavirus cases and U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen s calls overnight for a global minimum corporate tax rate.
The benchmark CAC 40 jumped 53 points, or 0.9 percent, to 6,156 as trading resumed after a long holiday weekend.
Suez SA shares were marginally higher. The waste and water utility fighting the takeover ambitions of rival Veolia Environnement SA, has reached an agreement to sell its Australian business to Cleanaway Waste Management Ltd. ....

Japanese Market Extending Gains
TOKYO (dpa-AFX) - Japanese stock market is higher on Monday, extending gains of the previous two sessions, with the Nikkei 225 breaking above the 30,000 level to three-week highs. The cues from Wall Street on Thursday were broadly positive on upbeat jobs and manufacturing data.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 Index is gaining 245.98 points or 0.82 percent to 30,099.98, after touching a high of 30,195.00 earlier. Japanese shares ended sharply higher on Friday.
Market heavyweight SoftBank Group is up more than 1 percent and Uniqlo operator Fast Retailing is adding almost 3 percent. Among automakers, Honda is gaining almost 1 percent, while Toyota is flat.
The major exporters are also higher. Panasonic is edging down 0.4 percent, while Mitsubishi Electric is edging up 0.1 percent. Sony and Canon are edging up 0.4 percent each. ....

The week gone by was a short and truncated one with just three working days. Nifty stayed volatile on the expected lines, and danced to the swings in bonds yield and dollar strength on the expected lines, but continued to post gains.
On the weekly chart, the index stayed very much in a defined range, as it remained inside the retracement channel that it has formed for itself. As the number of trading days was less, the index move remained limited and Nifty traded in a 265-point range.
While staying exactly in the middle of the retracement range and above the major upward rising trend line, the headline index ended with a net gain of 360 points, or 2.48 per cent on a weekly basis. ....

Stocks on Wednesday kicked off with a good gap-up, aiming high, but late exits rolled back early gains as the third Covid wave continues to build up in the country, dealers said.
A Topline Securities commentary said equities closed slightly positive and benchmark KSE-100 Shares Index gained 0.22 percent or 96.82 points to close at 44,587 points.
Day-on-day, total traded volume increased 31 percent to 443 million shares and value 25 percent to Rs25.91 billion.
Pakistan raised $2.5 billion through bond deal on Tuesday which led the market to open with a gap-up with the index make an intraday high of 642 points, the brokerage said. ....
