AUBURN â The Mason Dixon Line band will rock downtown Auburn between 4th and 5th streets during the Red, White & Brew family friendly event.
The 4th annual event, from 5:30-10:30 p.m. July 10, is a fundraiser for the Auburn Police Departmentâs Emergency Response Team (ERT). The team is made up of 10 members of the Auburn Police Department that act as a SWAT team, providing assistance in DeKalb County and neighboring counties.
The event is being organized by Dave Clark of Northeastern Group Realty, the Auburn Brewing Company, Bryan Graham the Mortgage Man and American Legion Post 97.
Clark, who was a firefighter with the Auburn Fire Department for 10 years, said he started the benefit as a way to give back to the community.
AUBURN â City government is looking to add parking spaces in downtown Auburn, Mayor Mike Ley said Thursday.
The Board of Public Works and Safety hired Complete Appraisals Services of Bluffton to conduct âappraisals on real estate the city is looking at purchasing,â Ley said.
âSeveral of the parcels weâre looking at would be resolving off-street parking use,â Ley said after the board meeting.
The mayor did not disclose the locations of the properties. He said their owners have shown interest in selling. The city could not pay more than the prices established by the appraisals.
Among the pressures on city parking, a new, three-story headquarters of Credent Wealth Management is scheduled to open in eight months on the courthouse square.
AUBURN â The Auburn Police Department and Fire Department both received approval to hire new employees at Thursdayâs meeting of the Auburn Board of Public Works and Safety.
The Police Department is hiring Derick Campbell as a patrolman. The department chose Campbell, a former area resident, through a lengthy hiring process.
The Fire Department will employ Cody LaRowe as a new firefighter. He is the son of retired firefighter Chip LaRowe, who still works part-time for the department, Fire Chief Michael VanZile said.
The board gave permission to Auburn City Steakhouse, 203 S. Main St., to expand its outdoor dining area along the 100 block of West 8th Street.
