The felines produce numerous of litters, with an average of four kittens per litter and a few higher than 10. Female cats can get pregnant at 4 months old, and the kittens birthed by each cat can be fathered by more than one randy male. Females can give birth three or four times a year during an average three years of life for an outdoor cat and about 13 for an indoor cat (who should be fixed anyway come on!). The kittens will have kittens who will have kittens who will have kittens. Even if you don’t crunch the numbers, it’s a sad fate for animals who are in reality domestic pets whose ancestors had the bad fortune to be kicked outdoors. ....

Seven Lucky Ducklings Trapped in Storm Drain Saved by Huntington Beach Firemen
A brood of ducklings was recovering after being rescued from a storm drain by Huntington Beach firefighters.
The wayward baby ducks inadvertently waddled into a 30-foot-deep hole off Gothard Street on April 1, and became trapped, a Huntington Beach Fire Department spokesperson said.
The group of seven ducks was discovered by a passerby, who waved down a nearby fire engine, Eric Blaska told The Epoch Times on April 5.
Huntington Beach firefighters were initially able to help one duckling before calling the department’s urban search and rescue team for backup.  The rescue team specializes in technical resources, confined space rescues, shoring, trench rescues, and heavy rescues. ....

Williams Canyon Fire Victims Brace for Mudslides, Prepare to Evacuate in Orange County
Residents of Williams Canyon are preparing to evacuate their community as potential mudslides caused by fierce rains threaten to destroy their homes and livestock in rural Orange County, California.
At noon on Jan. 28, Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies drove through the canyon, urging residents to leave the area and blasting warnings of a “voluntary evacuation” over loudspeakers.
“We cannot wait until after the rain comes to get horses out or to get people out. We’ve got to get out now,” Susan Iwamoto, 56, told The Epoch Times. “We’re just trying to salvage what we can.” ....
