GABBY LANDSVERK, BUSINESS INSIDER
A new coronavirus variant has emerged.
A very sick newborn, treated at Children s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., was found to have not only a new variant of the novel coronavirus, but a viral load 51,418 times higher than other young patients, according to the

The new variant was identified recently when the researchers sequenced the genome of the virus from the baby, who was treated in September and recovered, reported the Post s Ariana Eunjung Cha.
It s not clear how common or how risky this new variant might be. The database found eight other cases of this variant in the US mid-Atlantic region, according to a pre-print study, which has not yet been peer-reviewed, on coronavirus variations in children. ....

Controversial Stem Cell Therapy Has Helped Repair Injured Spinal Cords in 13 Patients

Controversial Stem Cell Therapy Has Helped Repair Injured Spinal Cords in 13 Patients
25 FEBRUARY 2021
Spinal cord injuries are sustained by hundreds of thousands of people every year, with many patients experiencing a significant and often permanent loss of movement and physical sensation resulting from nerve damage.

Beyond intensive physical rehabilitation programs – which can improve outcomes in some cases – treatment options are virtually non-existent. But new results from a phase 2 clinical trial offer fresh hope for remedies on the horizon.
In an experimental collaboration by scientists in Japan and the US, 13 patients with spinal cord injuries (SCI) experienced a range of functional improvements in their condition after being treated with an intravenous infusion of their own stem cells, derived from their bone marrow. ....

Study: 1986 Reagan Amnesty Invited a Surge of Immigration, Terrorism, Fraud

Study: 1986 Reagan Amnesty Invited a Surge of Immigration, Terrorism, Fraud
The last widespread amnesty, signed by former President Ronald Reagan in 1986, invited a surge of immigration to the United States, allowed terrorists to stay in the country, and inflated fraud, according to a new study.
This month, President Joe Biden unveiled the details of his amnesty plan which would legalize the roughly 11 million to 22 million illegal aliens currently in the U.S., fly deported illegal aliens back to the country to receive amnesty, and increase legal immigration levels, among other things.
A study by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) suggests Biden’s amnesty would result in the same issues past amnesties have spurred: Increasing immigration, displacing American workers, and adding to national security concerns. ....
