UNDATED – The U.S. is recommending a “pause” in the administration of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine to investigate reports of potentially dangerous blood clots. In a joint statement Tuesday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration said it was investigating clots in six women in the days after vaccination, in combination with reduced platelet counts. More than 6.8 million doses of the J&J vaccine have been administered in the U.S. The LaSalle County Health Department planned a Johnson and Johnson “one and done” vaccine clinic on Wednesday. Health Educator Jenny Barrie says they are in contact with the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois National Guard to evaluate the situation and determine the next steps. The Moderna vaccine is being utilized at the COVID-19 Vaccination clinic today and on Thursday at Illinois Valley Community College. ....

LaSalle County Health Department to host COVID-19 vaccine clinic at IVCC

OTTAWA – The LaSalle County Health Department will be having a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Illinois Valley Community College this week. The appointment-only public 1-B vaccine clinic will begin on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., then every Tuesday and Thursday until further notice. According to Health Educator Jenny Barrie, The clinic is for individuals 65 years and older and is strictly by appointment only due to vaccine availability and social distancing requirements.
