Roussin became the Chief Provincial Public Health Officer in June 2019 just months before the pandemic began.

Health and Seniors Care Minister Heather Stefanson has announced that the Manitoba government will implement all 17 recommendations outlined in the external review of Maples Long Term Care Home.
“I want to extend my deepest sympathies to the residents, family members of residents and the staff at Maples Long Term Care Home for the terrible COVID-19 outbreak at the site that led to so many illnesses and deaths,” said Stefanson. “While work has already begun on many of the recommendations at the site and regional level, the review makes it clear there is more work to be done to prevent these same issues from occurring at other sites. We are committed to implementing the recommendations in the review and have asked my department to establish an implementation team and have a plan in place within 30 days.” ....

The Manitoba government is extending the provincewide state of emergency to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and further protect Manitobans, Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler, minister responsible for the Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization, announced earlier this week.
The extension went into effect on February 2 at 4 p.m. for a period of 30 days.

“This extension marks the one-year implementation of Manitoba’s state of emergency and has been the longest period in a state of emergency in the province’s history,” said Schuler. “Our government recognizes that there is still a lot of work to be done against the fight of COVID-19 and will continue to take the necessary precautions for the health and safety of all Manitobans.” ....
