SRINAGAR, July 29: Keeping in view a possible third wave of the COVID-19 and the preparations to deal with it, the Health Department in Kashmir has asked the District Health Officers to ensure that the private hospitals are equipped with oxygen generation plants.
In this regard, a letter has been written to all the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) in the districts across Kashmir, directing them to identify the private hospital with more than 50-bed capacity and ensure that they have the required oxygen generation plants put in place. ....

COVID-19: Leave Of All Health Care Workers Cancelled


SRINAGAR: The director of health services Kashmir on Monday asked the chief medical officers and medical superintendents falling under the jurisdiction of the directorate of health Kashmir to cancel the leaves of medical staff including doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and other officials in view of the Covid-19 upsurge.
In an order a copy of which lies with the news agency KNO, director health Kashmir said that it is enjoined upon all the Chief Medical Officers/Medical Superintendents and other Territorial Offices falling within the jurisdiction of this Directorate that amid an upsurge of the covid-19 pandemic, all the leaves either sanctioned or under consideration at Directorate level or at respective offices of CMO’s and other DDO’s in respect of doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and another official of this Department are hereby cancelled forthwith except Maternity Leave and Leave taken in view of extreme medical exigencies. ....

JAMMU:  Drugs Control Organisation has suspended operations of 36 Retail Sale Establishments across Jammu Province for violation of   Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940.
As per DCO, surprise inspections of Retail Sale Outlets particularly, situated in far-flung/remote areas were carried out by the concerned Drugs Control Officers under the supervision of respective Assistant Drugs Controller in Jammu Province under the overall authority of State Drugs Controller, Lotika Khajuria to ensure availability of quality drugs to the end-users.
The operation of 6 units were disallowed in  Jammu,  6  in Samba, 2 in Kathua, 6 in Kishtwar, 4  in Udhampur and  12  in  Ramban district. ....

District Hospital Baramulla's Lift System Non-functional, MS Says Problem Not Confined To Them

Baramulla: The lift system of District Hospital Baramulla hasn’t been working for the past two years causing inconvenience to scores of patients who visit the facility for healthcare needs.

Locals allege that the officials of District Hospital Baramulla managed to get the tenders for the lift system’s maintenance allotted to their “close aides” for monetary benefits.
They alleged that the “close aides” have since failed to keep the lifts functional.
According to attendants, patients, who are recently operated along with sensitive surgical cases, are carried on shoulders from one floor of the hospital to the other. ....

Interference Of Revenue Officials In Hospital Affairs Unacceptable: JKDCC


SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Doctors Coordination at Committee(JKDCC) which is an amalgam of various doctors associations, today in a statement showed indignation against undue interference by revenue officials in day to day hospital affairs.
Dr M Y Tak Convenor JKDCC said, “administration has badly failed during this winter’s snowfall and got itself buried as the snow was not cleared from the roads, lanes and by-lanes for days together. This administrative apathy caused a lot of difficulty for doctors, paramedics and patients to reach hospitals and consequently, a disaster like the situation was palpable.”
