ICU numbers increase in Kern County

According to the state dashboard, starting June 8 Kern County had only five people in the ICU for COVID-19. As of last Tuesday, the number jumped up to 68 and now this week 72. ....

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — Adventist Health Bakersfield announced it will be holding free child immunization clinics in June.
The following is a schedule for the clinics:
Walmart – Thursday, June 3rd 6225 Colony St. (parking lot), Bakersfield from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Food Maxx – Monday, June 7 th 4400 Ming Ave. (parking lot), Bakersfield from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Jacobsen Middle School – Tuesday, June 8 th 711 Anita Dr. (parking lot), Tehachapi from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Kern County Dept. of Human Services – Wednesday, June 9th 100 E. California Ave. (parking lot), Bakersfield from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. ....

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — Kern County Public Health officials reported more people in the community have died in relation to COVID-19. Nine more deaths were reported today in Kern County.
That marks 924 lives lost in total. But health officials want people to know there is a backlog in reporting so this data is just now appearing in the daily numbers.
There were 138 new cases of COVID-19 announced Thursday. That marks nearly 104,000 cases in the county since the pandemic started. ....

Memorial Hospital unveils new modular building as a part of surge plan


At the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, many hospitals, including Memorial Hospital, pitched tents outside their emergency departments to accommodate a surge in coronavirus patients.
But this week, in lieu of a tent Memorial Hospital set up a brand-new temporary building in the parking lot outside the emergency department.
Local hospitals are beginning to roll out their surge plans as COVID continues to rise in Kern County. There are 348 patients in county hospitals, a 17 percent increase from the week before, according to state data. Of those, 73 are in intensive care units, a 20 percent increase from last week. Based on county estimates, 1 in 33 residents has active cases of COVID. ....
