A former patient has detailed how a Gqeberha specialist allegedly caressed and fondled her during a consultation at his Netcare Greenacres Hospital rooms.
The woman was testifying in a Health Professions Council of SA (HPCSA) inquiry into the doctor s alleged sexual misconduct.

After years of legal wrangling between the Health Professions Council of SA and Dr Wouter Basson, the medical regulator is planning a fresh hearing for the apartheid-era chemical warfare specialist.
Last year, the Constitutional Court dismissed the council s efforts to sustain a finding of unprofessional conduct against Basson.
But on Friday the HPCSA confirmed that Basson, dubbed “Dr Death” for his role in service of the apartheid government, will face a new inquiry.
Council spokesperson Priscilla Sekhonyana said the chairperson of the medical and dental professions board, Prof Solly Rataemane, still needed to establish the committee before Basson can be recharged. ....

Six years after the Health Professions Council of SA (HPCSA) was found to be in a state of “multisystem organisational dysfunction”, the collapse of a hearing involving a serial-offending doctor has left it facing fresh criticism.
On February 20, the council had to scrap a hearing to consider the suspension of Cape Town obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Ganes Anil Ramdhin. It had bungled the process of appointing a committee to deal with the matter. ....

The Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) has prescribed a legal lesson for a doctor accused of duping his patients into investing in a financially distressed company where he was a director.
Dr David Stephen Grieve, a general practitioner in Centurion, Gauteng, put up a spirited fight to prevent the Health Professions Council of SA (HPCSA) from instituting a disciplinary process against him.
Grieve is charged with unprofessional conduct. According to the HPCSA, he allegedly improperly persuaded a number of patients to invest in his financially distressed company, The Grieve Group, between 2004 and 2009. ....
