SAN ANTONIO – The 2021 #FilmSA contest asked young filmmakers to show how San Antonio has continued to celebrate its heritage and culture amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts and Culture’s Film Commission division and the World Heritage Office announced the winners during a virtual ceremony streamed on Facebook May 1.
Kyle Ward, a sophomore at John Marshall High School, won first place in the 14 to 17 age group with his film “San Antonio Strong”
. The film focuses on how the city is welcoming back visitors in a safe way. ....

TURKESTAN. KAZINFORM The X International Conference of Eurasia World Heritage Cities was held in Turkestan, the regional communications service reports.
Turkestan officially joined the Eurasia World Heritage Cities at the informal summit of the Council of Cooperation of Turkic-Speaking Countries and was declared the spiritual capital of the Turkic world. City Mayor Rashid Ayupov noted significance of the event on the eve of the 30
th anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan.
Representatives of more than 50 cities from 23 states of the world boasting great experience in preserving historical and cultural values of Iran, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Poland, Greece, Indonesia, Germany, Morocco, Albania, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and China took part in the event. Turkestan joins Organization of World Heritage Cities

Kazakhstan’s southern city of Turkestan has become an official member of the Organization of World Heritage Cities, a statement said.
According to its governorship, Turkestan will host the 10th International Eurasia World Heritage Cities Conference on April 2.
The city in the south of Kazakhstan is known as the spiritual capital of the Turkic world.
