Cedar Rapids Man Arrested at Riverside Casino Friday

A Cedar Rapids man was arrested on a felony charge after an incident last Friday at the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort.
Court documents show at about 2:30 p.m. a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the casino for a report of a male with a knife. The deputy met with casino security at the hotel entrance along with the suspect, 50-year-old Bradley James Emerson. A witness stated he saw Emerson and a woman yelling at each other in the casino parking lot, and Emerson was observed to be holding a large knife. The woman was then seen getting into a U-Haul truck with Emerson. The witness then called for help from security. Emerson first stated he was not holding a knife at all, but then stated he was holding a knife to cut rope. Emerson was charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a class D felony, and was taken into custody at the Washington County Jail. Ravens Lead Area Teams in Riverside

Three KCII area teams took over Blue Top Ridge at the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort Thursday for a Southeast Iowa Superconference quadrangular golf meet. Mediapolis won the event with a 208 team score. Hillcrest Academy was second with a 212. The Ravens were led by meet medalist London Schrock with his 45. Other scores for the Ravens included Luke Schrock at 49, Jace Rempel 55, Alex Niemeyer 63 and Josiah Beachy 73.
Highland finished third in the group of four with the team score of 239. Lone Tree was fourth with 246.

Ravens and Lions Meet at Blue Top Ridge

It’s an all-KCII area Southeast Iowa Superconference dual Thursday at Blue Top Ridge in Riverside when the Hillcrest boys golf team meets Lone Tree.
The Ravens are riding a three match winning streak to start the season including a 219-226 win over Wapello on the road last week. In that match Luke Schrock took medalist honors with a low round 47. London Schrock was medalist runner-up at 48. Other scores included Jace Rempel 56, Josiah Beachy 68 and Alex Niemeyer 69. On the season the Ravens are led by Luke and London Schrock with 48 averages per nine holes. London Schrock has posted the low round for the Ravens this year with a 44 at Cedarcrest in Columbus Junction in a win over Louisa-Muscatine. ....

Law enforcement, cab driver testify in death penalty trial

A death penalty trial for Texas resident Joseph Alliniece continued Tuesday with testimony from law enforcement officers, a former cab driver who picked up the defendant and one of Allinieceâs friends who had recent contact with him.
Alliniece, 32, of Missouri City, Texas, is charged with first-degree murder of Norman resident Brittani Young, 27, as well as two counts of kidnapping and one count of robbery by force or fear.
According to a Norman police affidavit, officers found Young on April 24, 2018, dead inside her Emerald Greens Apartments residence. Alliniece fled the scene but was later arrested that night by Oklahoma City Police Department officers. He was then taken to the Norman Investigations Center for questioning, where he said he couldnât remember anything from that day. ....

Fonner Park chooses Elite Casino Resorts, LLC to construct, manage new casino

GRAND ISLAND – Fonner Park President Dan Fogland announced in a press conference Friday that Elite Casino Resorts, LLC will construct and manage a new casino resort at the race track.
Fogland said the new resort will be called Grand Island Casino Resort at Fonner Park. The casino resort will feature 650 slot machines, 20 table games, a sports book, lounging, food and entertainment.
Elite Casino Resorts, LLC will invest $100 million into the casino. Construction for the resort will cost $45 million and the renovation of the current track will cost $3.45 million.
Elite Casino Resorts, LLC is a family business founded by the Kehl’s that started in the 1960’s when Bob and Ruth Kehl bought and ran a café in downtown Dubuque, Iowa. In 1990, the business was granted the first riverbo ....
