Hopkinsville Mayor gives Kiwanis an update on state of the city

The Kiwanis Club of Hopkinsville heard an update on the state of the city at Thursday’s meeting from Mayor Wendell Lynch and other city officials.
The mayor did not give a review of his upcoming budget proposal, saying people can tune in to see that address live on Friday of next week, but he did say the city is recovering well from the economic impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chief Financial Officer Robert Martin gave a brief financial report, saying that payroll tax which is one of the city’s highest revenues has gone up more than expected since the pandemic, and he’s hopeful it will continue to do so. ....

Louisville partnering with Energize Kentucky to administer Energy Program Assessment District Program

Mayor Greg Fischer announced today that Louisville Metro Government has entered into an agreement with Energize Kentucky for the administration of an Energy Project Assessment District (EPAD) program. The EPAD program allows for Louisville’s businesses and organizations to install renewable energy systems and increase their energy efficiency by providing a financing mechanism on property tax bills. As the administrator, Energize Kentucky will continue to advance the EPAD program through outreach to the local community via contractors, commercial real estate companies and commercial property owners. 
To date, the participating property owners only had one option for the billing and collection of the EPAD special assessment. Now, Energize Kentucky will be able to offer a second option, which may result in a lower fee to the participating property owner. This new option also makes the program available to more properties, specifically larger developments for ....

City council hears flooding concerns, approves Greenway System amenities

Hopkinsville City Council met in-person for the first time since November at Tuesday’s meeting, where they heard from multiple concerned citizens about flooding issues in the city.
Hopkinsville and Christian County was hit by flooding Sunday, and many places saw a significant amount of water, though reportedly none entered any living spaces during the event. Alison Kieth says she owns several properties that house homeless veterans and others in need near the intersection of Cox Mill Road and South Virginia Street, and she’s ready for something to be done to help protect those individuals from flooding dangers. ....
