South Texas non-profit creating a better tomorrow at Lake Findley

The Alice Green Alliance (AGA), a non -profit that organized this past year, has made significant strides with the main purpose to clean up Lake Findley. AGA held a lake clean-up event on Saturday, May 15 and the community turned out to help.
The event came after a letter from the Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD) that gave support to the AGA s efforts at Lake Findley. The letter stated that the TPWD is to provide catfish to the lake on Thursday, May 20.
A better Lake Findley mission started in the summer of 2020 when Alice resident Daniel Benavides noticed apparent neglect at the lake and an excessive overgrowth of star grass and algae. Since his initial interest, he has since joined forces with Charlie Bazan, a local Alician, that shared the same hopes of a better Lake Findley. AGA is now an official non-profit and plans for a better Lake Findley in 2021

The Alice Green Alliance (AGA) will host its first 2021 board meeting for the new year on Thursday, Jan. 7 at 7:30 p.m.
This will be the first community meeting with AGA now as an official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The environmental project started in July by Alice native Daniel Benavides and has since grown with administrator and co-founder Charlie Bazan as well as four appointed board members.
As a nonprofit organization AGA will now be able to start receiving donations beginning January 15, in efforts to maintain and sustain Lake Findley’s ecosystem and surrounding area as well as recreational activities for the community, Bazan said. Thursday s meeting will be in person or virtual and the community is encouraged to sign up at the AGA Facebook page - we really need the community s support. ....
