Exxon Mobil Considers Investing Over $240 Million in Louisiana Refinery

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said Exxon Mobil Corp. is considering investing more than $240 million in its 517,700-bbl/d Baton Rouge, La., refinery.
Exxon Mobil is contemplating several projects to increase flexibility in crude oils the refinery can process and to reduce pollution at the refinery, Edwards said in a statement released on Dec. 16.
Company spokesman Jeremy Eikenberry said, the projects under evaluation would enable the processing of domestic crudes and help reduce emissions.
Exxon Mobil plans to make an investment decision about the projects in 2021, Edwards said.
Exxon Mobil is carrying out a multibillion-dollar expansion of its Beaumont, Texas, refinery to run crude oil coming from the Permian Basin in Texas. Before the decision to begin the addition of an another crude distillation unit, Exxon Mobil invested in a smaller project to test its feasibility. ....

Louisiana Governor announces potential Baton Rouge refinery investment

The Governor of Louisiana, John Bel Edwards, has announced potential investment by ExxonMobil totalling more than US$240 million at the company’s Baton Rouge Refinery.
The suite of projects would improve processing capability, increase flexibility for meeting market demand, advance overall site competitiveness, and install technology for a voluntarily 10% reduction of volatile organic compound emissions. The projects are pending final engineering, design and investment decisions. A decision to proceed could come from ExxonMobil in 2021.
The projects would retain 1300 existing jobs at the refinery, and ExxonMobil estimates the projects would support more than 600 construction jobs on-site over three years. The investment also would provide more than 20 full-time job opportunities for graduates of the North Baton Rouge Industrial Training Initiative, a collaborative programme spearheaded by ExxonMobil in 2012 to provide no-cost, fast-tracked industrial c ....

BATON ROUGE, La. Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced potential investment by ExxonMobil totaling more than $240 million at the company’s Baton Rouge Refinery.
