The province will begin moving on to Step 2 of its plan to lift restrictions. It will allow limited use of libraries and gyms, but it will hold off on easing restrictions further on retail businesses, hotels, banquet halls and children s sports.

There are 
active cases across the province as well as three more deaths.
Hospitalizations continue to decline  there are 250 people being treated in hospital for COVID-19, a decrease of 12 from the day before. There are now 46 in intensive care beds.
The province s COVID-19 vaccination rollout has now seen 
227,678 doses of vaccine administered. That number includes 
87,695 Albertans who are fully immunized with two doses of the vaccine. 
Alberta Health Services said Friday that more than 110,000 
Alberta seniors born in 1946 or earlier are now booked to receive their COVID-19 vaccination.
Helath Minister Tyler Shandro said Thursday 28,000 seniors in long-term care have already been vaccinated and that more than half of Alberta s population over 75 have been vaccinated or are booked to be vaccinated. ....

COVID-19 vaccines will soon be offered at community pharmacies


AHS has been working with the Alberta Pharmacists’ Association to develop a program for pharmacists to provide COVID-19 vaccines in their communities.
Initially, the number of participating pharmacies will be limited due to vaccine supply and strict storage and handling requirements.
Pharmacies were chosen based on both geographic and population needs, and demonstrating an ability to handle large volumes of vaccinations in short time frames.
As more supply becomes available, additional pharmacies will be able to provide the vaccine in other communities. Pharmacies will be contacted directly with an invitation to participate.
Each participating location will adhere to strict protocols. They also have experience with immunizations and the specialized skills needed to safely provide COVID-19 vaccines. ....

Alberta Health Services says its online booking tool has stabilized since the government website crashed on the first day that all Albertans 75 and older could book COVID-19 vaccinations. AHS says more than 2,000 seniors got their shots on Wednesday and a more than 72,000 more have made appointments.

Alberta Blue Cross donates to 4 Wing MFRC

4 Wing’s Military Family Resource Centre Society has seen a donation from a provincial health insurance provider to help with their operation.
Alberta Blue Cross says the group was part of a donation to help buy chairs, sanitation supplies and other materials as they reopened the resource centre to military families.
The donation was part of the larger “COVID Community Roots Program” where Alberta Blue Cross donated a total of $195,000 to 45 projects in 38 different communities in the province.
“These projects are helping to support the social, mental, emotional and physical well-being of people and communities across Alberta through the pandemic,” says Brian Geislinger, vice-president of Corporate Relations, Alberta Blue Cross. “We’re so glad to be able to support these initiatives.” ....
