One of two suspected prowlers allegedly used a hatchet to evade Crescent City Police officers, the department reported Monday.

On 7-26-2021 at about 1115 hours, Crescent City Police Department Sergeant Wilson was on patrol in the 100 block of East Condor in Crescent City. Sgt. Wilson was flagged down by a citizen reporting a male and female subject walking around in the area trying to potentially break into vehicles.

Sgt. Wilson located the female subject, Ashley Marks (age 30), near a vehicle parked in a driveway. Marks then fled from the Sgt. Wilson and hid behind a bush. Marks was then taken into custody for a violation of 647 (h) PC, prowling, 11364 H&S, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia, and 148.9 PC, false information to a peace officer. ....

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - A judge has granted bail for a Harris County mother accused of giving her son toxic amounts of drugs. 
On Monday, a judge gave a $750,000 bond for Ashley Marks, 25, who is charged with capital murder in the death of Jason Sanchez-Marks. 
According to the District Attorney s Office, Marks administered toxic amounts of Chlorpheniramine, Dextromethorphan, and Diphenhydramine with Methamphetamine in order to collect life insurance money.  ....

A Houston woman took out two life insurance policies on her 6-year-old son before giving him lethal doses of medications and over the counter drugs that caused him frightening hallucinations before he died, prosecutors said Thursday. 
Prosecutors with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office allege that Ashley Marks repeatedly drugged her son in June. 
Marks, 25, has been charged with capital murder and was being held without bond. Court records did not list an attorney for her. 
Ashley Marks had taken out two life insurance policies, each worth $50,000, for her son and she was the sole beneficiary, investigators said in court documents. ....

The mom accused of killing her 6-year-old son in an attempt to cash in on life insurance money will remain locked up in the Harris County jail.
A hearing has been scheduled for Friday, April 16, to decide whether Ashley Marks should be given bail. In court filings, prosecutors said the state has presented clear and strong evidence and the mother would likely face the death penalty.
Marks court-appointed attorney, Charles Brown Jr., told ABC13 by phone he ll ask for bail. He said it was too early to comment on the case - given he just took it. ....
