PADUCAH, Ky. (KFVS) - Although the holidays look different this year, employees at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Paducah Site are finding innovative ways to give back to the community this holiday season.
Traditionally, this time of year is filled with in-person fundraisers and other charitable events where Paducah site workers donate their time and money to help families in need across the region. ....

DOE site workers find ways to give back


Although the holidays looked different this year, employees at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Paducah Site still found innovative ways to give back to the community.
Traditionally, this time of year would have been filled with in-person fundraisers and other charitable events where Paducah site workers would donate their time and money to help families in need across the region.
This year, with nonprofits working to serve more families than ever before, DOE contractors and their employees sought new solutions to volunteerism and fundraisers while still adhering to COVID-19 protective measures.
Four Rivers Nuclear Partnership, LLC (FRNP), Swift & Staley Inc. (SSI), Mid-America Conversion Services, LLC (MCS), and Enterprise Technical Assistance Services, Inc. (ETAS) replaced in-person events with on-air and online fundraisers, take-away luncheons, drive-through events, and volunteerism opportunities that included members of employees’ households. ....

PADUCAH, Ky. (KFVS) - School leaders outlined a tentative plan for how West Kentucky Community and Technical College will use its $15 million gift.
WKCTC’s Board of Directors and the Paducah Junior College, Inc. Board of Trustees met during a virtual meeting on Monday, December 21.
Philanthropist and author MacKenzie Scott donated the money a week before to Paducah Junior College, Inc., which is the foundation for WKCTC. The donation is the largest gift from a single donor in the college’s history. ....

Shawn Maxie


Shawn Maxie, age 52, of Paducah, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at his home.
Mr. Maxie was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Charles D. Maxie and the late Myrtle McKinney. Shawn attended West Point Military Academy and served in the United States Army before graduating from Murray State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Shawn joined the Paducah Police Department in August of 1994, he was promoted to Captain on January 28, 2010, and retired in August of 2014. In this time, Shawn had a remarkable impact both inside the Police Department and in the city of Paducah. He was a member of the SWAT team, a Sergeant in the Drug Unit, and Sergeant and Captain in the Operations Division. Shawn was the founder and Commander of the Paducah Police Honor Guard and one of his great life achievements was performing honors in the outfield before a St. Louis Cardinals game.
