Australians Don't Want Critical Race Theory in Classrooms

Australians Don’t Want Critical Race Theory in Classrooms
Most Australians do not support the presence of Identity Politics in classrooms, a poll reveals, as concerns grow the newly proposed national curriculum will inject critical race theory into schools.
The Critical Race Theory Poll (pdf), commissioned by the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA), asked 1121 Australians four questions and found 82 percent disagree with the statement that students should be forced to apologise for their skin colour.
Around 86 percent also disagree that schools should make boys feel ashamed of being male, and 69 percent do not think schools should be teaching children that Australia is a racist country.

Ditch NAPLAN Tests For System That Puts Students First: Report

Ditch NAPLAN Tests For System That Puts Students First: Report
The Gonski Institute for Education is calling for the government to ditch NAPLAN tests rather than reform them and replace the standardized exams with tests that put the interest of students first.
In its new report, ‘Putting Students First,’ the Gonski Institute has proposed new sample-based testing of students that “builds trust and capacity,” moving away from NAPLAN’s census approach that has a “strong focus on accountability.”
The main proposal is to replace the current literacy and numeracy tests in years 3, 5, 7, and 9 with sample-based assessments in years 4, 6, 8, and 10 while complemented with teacher-led assessments in schools.

Australia politics live: Labor prepares for budget reply, confusion over Covid vaccination targets

Hunt takes a slightly different tack on the budget assumptions in relation to vaccination rates, saying:
As the prime minister said this morning, the budget is based on numerous assumptions, whether it is from the iron ore price or to the number of people that will take up Medicare services, to the number of people who will take up childcare services.
The fundamental Covid assumption is that we keep Australian Covid-free, which I think is a strong assumption.
He goes on to say that in a sense it’s immaterial if everyone is vaccinated this year, as someone could get their first dose in mid-December, meaning they can’t get a second dose until early next year.
