A NEW agreement between a tertiary institution and a training institute will support Pacific Island citizens’ skills training needs for labour market demands, particularly for recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The partnership between the University of the South Pacific and the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) focuses on key thematic areas, including collaborative approaches for training delivery, professional development opportunities, strengthening partnership governance and identifying regional priorities for better co-ordination.
A media statement from APTC said the partnership would enable the two institutions to work collaboratively for quality Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) delivery and better employment outcomes for ....

Australia Pacific Training Coalition boss plays down concerns over graduates struggling to find paid work - Pacific Beat

The interim Chief Executive of the Australia Pacific Training Coalition has responded to research from the Australian National University that suggests the organisation is finding it increasingly hard to get graduates into work.
The ANU findings are based on APTC s own surveys, and point to an upward trend of Pacific graduates without a guaranteed job to go back to, and who are failing to find work within six to 12 months of qualifying.
The report s authors from the Development Policy Centre suggest part of the problem is linked to the sheer number of graduates, while limited mobility and access to the Australian market are also factors. ....
