Niger Delta not part of Biafra — PANDEF

Niger DeltaThe Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has declared that the Niger Delta Region is not part of Biafra and that no inch of the South-South geopolitical zone shall be part of any imagined “Republic”.
A statement issued, yesterday, by its National Chairman, Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien, said: “It is rather puerile for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), or any other group to consider that Niger Delta Region would be part of any arbitrary contraption. And if it becomes necessary for the Niger Delta people to pull out of this country, we shall do so, on our terms”. ....

Ohanaeze raises concern over increasing insecurity in South East

Apex Igbo Social Cultural Organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has expressed concerns over the increasing wave of attacks on citizens in the South East region.
The organization also said the Federal Government, must as a matter of urgency, make delicate choices that would tackle insecurity across the country or risk loosing its nationhood.
While addressing newsmen in Enugu, following recent attacks in Ebonyi and other states which led to loss of lives and property, President General of the organization, George Obiozor said the dream of Nigerian Unity is fast recedding and fading with violence, crisis and conflicts. ....

2023: Twists and turns in PDP over zoning

The moves to getting President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor in 2023 have commenced as both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the leading opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have started shopping for presidential materials.

The PDP which has a strong zoning principle as provided in its constitution has resisted going into extinction despite all the odds stirring the nation’s political waters.
The opposition party is hit by a gale of defection of its key actors who determine where the pendulum swings. This is sequel to the APC’s resolve to whittle down its structures ahead of the 2023 polls.

The former Nigerian ambassador to the United States of America, Professor George Obiozor, has emerged the new President-General of the Igbo Social-Cultural Organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo, on Sunday.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that Professor Obiozor, scored 304 votes to beat two other contestants to emerge the winner in a just-concluded election at the Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri, Imo State.
Present at the election was the Governor of Imo, Hope Uzodinma; his Ebonyi State counterpart, Dave Umahi; Minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige; Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu; Senator Andy Uba, former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Gary Igariwe, ArchBishop of the Enugu Province, Anglican Communion, Most Rev.
