Bronze award means worldwide success for Runcorn school

A RUNCORN school has been praised for the work its pupils and staff have done for the rest of the world.
St Mary’s CE Primary School has achieved Bronze Award status in Christian Aid’s Global Neighbours scheme in recognition of its wide-ranging steps to love their global neighbour.
The accreditation scheme celebrates schools that are helping pupils learn about global poverty and the Christian responsibility to tackle it, as well as giving them the tools to play a confident part in creating a fairer world.
Head teacher Rachel Tainsh said: “We are thrilled to be recognised for the work we have done as a whole school community to raise awareness of the extreme inequalities across our globe and perhaps more importantly, the steps we can take to address these. ....

Pupils have been presented with a bronze award from Christian Aid’s Global Neighbours Scheme.
From litter picks to promoting Fair Trade products, pupils and staff at Brant Broughton Church of England and Methodist Primary School have been working hard to take their place as global citizens.

The British government has refused to rule out keeping school children at home following the Christmas break after large parts of the country were placed under strict lockdown.
A new strain of the COVID-19 virus detected in southern England that could be up to 70 percent more transmissible has seen London and much of southeast England placed under new Tier 4 restrictions requiring people to stay at home except for essential work while closing all non-essential businesses and indoor leisure. Education unions have made calls to keep children in tier four areas at home for longer following the Christmas school holiday, with U.K. Health Secretary Matt Hancock refusing to rule anything out . ....
