Wyoming Student Selected to Attend National Youth Science Camp – Sheridan Media


According to information from the Wyoming Department of Education, Danielle Jones has been selected to represent Wyoming at the 2021 National Youth Science Camp. Jones will graduate in May from Thunder Basin High School in Gillette and was selected by Governor Mark Gordon to attend the camp.
The National Youth Science Foundation cancelled the in-residence portion of the 2021 National Youth Science Camp. Held in West Virginia since 1963, this is only the third time that the annual program has not been held in the Mountain State. One hundred eight delegates representing the United States, Mexico, and Trinidad and Tobago will, however, have the opportunity to connect from home for an exclusive virtual program. ....

Emma Daly, a student at West Grand High School in Kremmling, Colo., was named the first-place winner of the inaugural WYTeach contest a University of Wyoming program. Daly received a $500 scholarship for her winning presentation.
Daly presented her lesson, “Earth’s Quietest Heroes,” from her home classroom to a virtual class of avatars via a live video feed April 2. The contest used innovative virtual reality (VR) software from Mursion that allowed participants to experience what it is like to be a teacher. ....
