FRANKFORT A local community health center will receive more than $2 million to help staff deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
It will help increase the capacity of staff to be able to address the need to increase the response to COVID-19, said Gwen Williams, chief development officer for Northwest Michigan Health Services. We ve bumped up staff numbers and created local teams to get out in the community. ....

Officials report 37 new infections in Northeast Michigan | News, Sports, Jobs

ALPENA Public health officials on Wednesday reported 37 newly infected or probably infected Northeast Michiganders, including 19 Alpena County residents, 12 Presque Isle County residents, and six Montmorency County residents.
As of Feb. 18, local public health agencies have reported confirmed and suspected infections as one number.
Based on that data, 3,239 Northeast Michiganders have been confirmed or suspected infected since the pandemic hit Michigan in mid-March. Of those, 106 have died.
State data showed that, as of Wednesday, 36,495 doses of coronavirus vaccine had been administered in Northeast Michigan.
As of Monday, two people were hospitalized at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena with coronavirus infection, none were in intensive care, according to state data. The hospital was 51% full. ....

Nearly a thousand health care workers in Ingham County are getting Pfizer s COVID-19 vaccine every week.
Health Officer Linda Vail says so far, the state has provided her department with 975 doses of vaccine a week. They’re getting an extra dose out of some vials.
She says the staff and the schedule would allow for more. “We did ask for the double, 1,950 doses this week, and didn’t get it, Vail adds, but we will be asking again, and I’ve also made a few phone calls.”
Vail says the department is vaccinating 350 or more people per day, and could double or triple that if they had enough vaccine. ....
