Indy Music Strategy enters implementation phase following unveiling of report

After 17 months of work over three project phases and engagement with over 1,200 members of the Indianapolis music community, the Indy Music Strategy was officially unveiled to the public on April 6, 2021, laying out a plan to ensure Indianapolis emerges from the COVID-19 crisis as a world-class music city.
As was originally reported by NUVO in 2019, Indy Chamber, alongside Central Indiana Community Foundation, City of Indianapolis, and Visit Indy began work on the Indy Music Strategy in 2019, having international consultancy Sound Diplomacy advise the process. In order to develop a strategy that was accurate and honest, Sound Diplomacy looked at Indyâs music community from a myriad of angles, including a regulatory assessment, an ecological impact assessment, and an economic impact assessment. All of the findings from this research can now be found in an in-depth, 142-page report, which is laid out more concisely via this executive summary. ....

INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) A new study conducted for the Indy Music Strategy Commission shows building the music ecosystem in Indianapolis could create a billion-dollar industry and generate nearly 8,500 jobs.
The consortium on Tuesday released a three-year strategy to guide the economic development initiative.
As part of the commission’s goal to boost the profile of Indy as a “music city” on the global stage, it hired music policy consulting group Sound Diplomacy to provide data, research, and insights on the music sector. ....

Indy Music Strategy sets 3 year plan to boost music in Indianapolis

A group of city and civic organizations have released a three-year plan to make music central to Indianapolis reputation, similar to the likes of Nashville, Seattle, Atlanta and Austin.
Much like the humble nature of our citizens, our music culture remains an underrepresented narrative of the creativity of our people and our global influence, Mayor Joe Hogsett wrote in the plan s executive summary.
The Indy Music Strategy is an economic development initiative launched by the Indy Chamber that aims to grow the already-robust local scene and boost awareness for residents and visitors. The steering committee includes members of Visit Indy, Kheprw Institute, Central Indiana Community Foundation, City of Indianapolis, Chreece Presents, MOKB Presents, the Arts Council of Indianapolis and Live Nation, among several others. ....

300 artists sought for March Madness experience in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) In a matter of weeks, downtown Indianapolis will be filled with all kinds of music and art during the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
Organizers of a big art project are looking to hire more than 300 people to create during March Madness.
“We can’t wait to be back to some live performance and the opportunity to experience some of what we’ve been missing,” said Julie Goodman, president and chief executive officer of the Arts Council of Indianapolis.
Spearheading the initiative, the council wants put a spotlight on local artists who’ve been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic for the visitors coming to the Circle City for basketball. The organizers say they also hope the events will promote the city. ....
