Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas express train temporarily suspended as Covid surges

IRCTC on Thursday said that services of the train Tejas Express Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad have been suspended for one month due to recent increase in COVID-19 cases.
In a tweet, the IRCTC shared a statement that read, Temporary suspension of ADI-BCT-ADI Tejas Express due to recent COVID-19 rising cases. Keeping in view the rising cases and in the larger public interest, it has been decided to suspend the services of train no.82902/82901 Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Tejas Express from April 2 for a period of one month.
IRCTC is committed in its endeavor to ensure the highest standard of safe and comfortable journey of rail passengers, the statement read. ....

Amid the worsening COVID-19 situation, the Western Railway on Thursday announced that the services of Ahmedabad-Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express would be suspended for a month from April 2.
Divisional Railway Manager of Western Railway s Mumbai division made this announcement through his official Twitter handle late this evening.
Suspension of Train No. 82902/82901 Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Tejas express with effect form 02-04-2021 for the period of one month, the tweet said.
Night curfews have also been implemented in both the connecting states, which may cause inconvenience to passengers in general, said an official of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), an undertaking of Indian Railways. ....

IRCTC slips on terminating mobile catering contracts

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) fell 1.62% to Rs 1907.50 after the company informed about the termination of all existing contracts of mobile catering.
In a regulatory filing made after market hours on Monday (1 March 2021), the company said that Ministry of Railways, in compliance of orders of High Court of Judicature at Madras, has directed IRCTC to terminate all existing contracts of mobile catering (currently kept in abeyance) involving scope of work of providing cooked food to passengers prepared from base kitchens as per the existing terms and conditions.
The impact of the above directive is being assessed and will be informed to exchanges in due course, the company further said. ....

IRCTC directed to terminate all existing mobile catering contracts

Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation announced that Ministry of Railways has directed IRCTC to terminate all existing contracts of mobile catering(currently kept in abeyance) involving scope of work of providing cooked food to passengers prepared from base kitchens.
IRCTC is further directed to treat this case as an exception arising out of pandemic situation and not to be treat the case as contractor s default and hence not impose any fine for not providing catering services and also return the security deposit and advance license fee in full after considering / adjusting valid dues, if any.

Indian Railways has directed its catering and ticketing arm to cancel all the existing contracts of mobile catering services providing cooked food to passengers. The decision was taken in the backdrop of a new normal of serving ready-to-eat in special trains.
