Indiana extends FAFSA deadline

INDIANAPOLIS The Indiana Commission for Higher Education has extended the deadline for prospective college students to submit FAFSA forms.
Applications were initially due April 15, but the state has pushed the deadline back and is encouraging students to fill out the form as soon as possible. Free student aid is given away on a first-come basis.
With over $350 million available in state financial aid each year, Indiana is committed to making postsecondary education affordable for all Hoosiers, said Indiana Commissioner for Higher Education Teresa Lubbers. But students and families must file the FAFSA for consideration and by extending the deadline, we can make sure more Hoosiers can access financial aid. ....

Indiana Legislature calls for universities to reduce the cost of college by 10%, among other things

Indiana legislators are taking bold steps to hold the state’s public universities accountable – asking the state agency that oversees them to report on what universities have done to reduce the cost of a college education and what they are doing to protect intellectual property from “foreign malfeasance.”
All public universities under the proposal would also be required to survey all students on free speech by May 1, 2022.
The proposal was authored and introduced by Rep. Jack Jordan, R-Bremen.
“We are in the middle of a transformation of technology and yet, our universities are really a capital-intensive business that is archaic in the manner in which it delivers information,” Jordan said in a committee meeting in March. “In the private sector, knowledge transfer is now pennies on the dollar…The infrastructure that was ....
