The Voice of Indiana County INDIANA BOROUGH, STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING SERIES OF CAR THEFTS ON SUNDAY By Hometown2 Apr 26, 2021 10:26 AM Indiana Borough and Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a series of car thefts that happened over the weekend. Indiana Borough Police reported that they started to investigate the theft of a Dodge Durango from the 1300 block of Locust Street that happened around 4:40 AM on Sunday, April 25 th. The vehicle was not locked and the keys were inside the vehicle. The Durango was disposed of behind a barn on the property of Jennifer Sheesley on Martin Road around 6:10 AM on Sunday. After going through one vehicle on the property and stealing a Vera Bradley wristlet and $3 in change, the thieves were able to find the keys to a Jeep Patriot and stole the Jeep. Home video surveillance confirmed two people were involved, but they were unable to be identified. ....
POLICE REPORTS: DUI CRASH, HARASSMENT By Hometown2 INDIANA BOROUGH POLICE Police in Indiana Borough have charged a Shelocta man with DUI in connection with a crash on March 25th. Police say that they were called out to a report of a car against a telephone pole in the 500 block of Gompers Avenue at 1:45 in the morning. The driver, identified as 23-year-old Kenneth Davis Jr., was found by police to be under the influence of alcohol that he was a danger to himself and others. Police took him into custody and took him to IRMC to conduct a legal blood draw, which showed he was above the legal limit for alcohol. He was subsequently released to a sober adult. A criminal complaint was filed through District Judge Guy Haberl’s office. ....

Outdoor events from the Westsylvania Jazz and Blues Festival to the annual Lucy Donnelly Holiday Parade were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As restrictions on outdoor gatherings eased, borough manager Michael Foote wanted guidance on how events should be held. Borough Council Vice President Gerald Smith stated the apparent majority opinion of allowing the events go on provided event organizers can enforce Covid-19 protocols. To that end, Borough Council approved event applications and open container waivers for both Downtown Indiana’s upcoming 3rd Thursday celebrations at IRMC Park and the Delaney Chevrolet Westsylvania Jazz and Blues Festival on May 29th, which is set to be held on Philadelphia Street between 9th and 7th Streets to help with social distancing. ....
