Ooni pledges support for Yoruba Nollywood directors

Over the week, the leadership of the TAMPAN Guild of Directors (TGD) paid a courtesy visit to his Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, at his palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State, where he assured them of his support to the development of the guild, as well as the Yoruba movie industry as a whole.
The delegation of movie directors and the AGM planning committee under the auspices of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) was led by actor and director, Emperor Damola Olatunji, who is also the chairman of the guild. ....

Owolabi Ajasa is an actor, movie producer and currently the Governor of Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) in Ogun State. He is prominent in the Yoruba sector of the Nigerian movie industry and is popular for taking up roles as a policeman. Ajasa in this interview by FEMI OGUNTAYO talks about his career and the movie industry. Excerpts:
What is new with you?
I am planning to produce a new movie titled ‘Promise (Adehun)’ in which I will be playing the role of a king. It is going to be a big one because I have never played such a role before. Also, as the Governor of TAMPAN in Ogun State, I am planning to make sure the Nigeria Film Censors Board comes to Ogun State to censor our movies. We have written letters to the executive director of the board and he has approved the censorship and promised that before the end of next month we will begin to censor our movies right here in Abeokuta and we won’t need to go to Lagos anymore b ....
