The Tamil Nadu government will launch a unified command centre for COVID-19 management at about noon on Friday.
The unified command centre will facilitate actionable intelligence for COVID-19 management, integrating the existing facilities managed by civic bodies such as the Greater Chennai Corporation. ....

Amma Clinic medical officers to be re-deployed

They will be diverted to government medical colleges to attend to COVID-19 patients
Medical officers from Amma Mini-Clinics will be diverted to government medical colleges to attend to COVID-19 patients.
The decision follows a surge in infections in the State in the second wave of COVID-19.
The State launched 2,000 Amma Mini-Clinics in January and 1,645 doctors were recruited to run them.
The Deputy Directors of Health Services, under whose purview the mini-clinics fall, have been instructed to divert medical officers, on a need basis, as per requests from the Deans of the medical colleges or Joint Directors of Health Services to institutions that come under the Directorate of Medical Services. ....

CHENNAI: As the government doctors associations objected to the decision of diverting regular doctors from other districts to Chennai for Covid-19 duty, the Directorate of Medical Education, after looking for alternate steps so far, managed to divert around 130 doctors who expressed their willingness to work in Chennai earlier and were waiting for the posting. ....
