Antwon Burton discusses his connection with Louis Curtis in Undercover Billionaire

With just a week left in his 90-day Undercover Billionaire challenge, entrepreneur Louis Curtis, aka Grant Cardone, displayed a side of himself that differs from his fast-paced front, ultimately finding a deeper connection in this week’s episode on Discovery+.
Curtis has partnered with Pueblo West’s Matt Smith in starting a marketing company, Wake Up Pueblo. But with only three clients and an upcoming evaluation, the competition is looking grim.
After a failed effort to sign potential client Nick Ohrdorf, owner of Rocky Mountain Boat Co., Curtis returns to a connection he established with Executive Director of PBR Sport Performance Antwon Burton in an earlier episode.

Legacy Bank senior VP: What are the benefits of having a durable financial power of attorney

This article is a part of the Forward Thinking Education Series presented by Legacy Bank, the Latino Chamber of Commerce and the Pueblo Chieftain. Webinars further discussing this and other financial topics can be found on the Latino Chamber of Commerce Facebook page at: https://m.facebook.com/PuebloLCC/
In a previous article we discussed the importance of people having a will in place when they pass away. Wills not only dictate the terms of a deceased person’s estate but stipulate who may have access to their financial assets including bank accounts.
But what about preparing for other situations where you may need someone else to handle your financial affairs? What if you become physically or mentally incapacitated following a stroke or an accident and can’t make financial decisions or initiate financial transactions? This might also occur if your physical or mental health deteriorates over time. Perhaps you’re fine physically and mentally but you travel extensively or live in more than one location during the year but have on-going financial assets and responsibilities in multiple locations.

Pueblo West Women's League Donates art sculpture honoring first responders

The Pueblo West Women’s League, a service organization that supports Pueblo West’s various community efforts, recently donated a sculpture to the community that is meant to honor the community’s first responders.
The sculpture, coined ‘Every Day Responders’ is the seventh piece of artwork that the league has donated to the community as a part of the Let’s stART campaign that league president, Barb Murfit started in 2011.
Murfit said the first six pieces are representative of plants and animals native to the area but the newest piece, which went up this month, is a tribute piece.
“The first one was flowers on the prairie, then we have geodes, an eagle that soars, tortoises and a fish sculpture,” Murfit said. “Then the committee and I decided for number seven, we should include some people.

Experts explain how has behavioral health changed throughout COVID

In a pre-pandemic world, behavioral health experts in Pueblo were battling a high volume of substance abuse.
Now a year into the coronavirus pandemic, those same experts have had to shift focus, adapt to changing circumstances and find efficient ways to help the community from a distance.
“There was a lot of language, a lot of stories and a lot of energy around the opioid crisis and overdose rate (before COVID),” Health Solutions chief operating officer, Jason Chippeaux said. “Particularly here in Southern Colorado. We, unfortunately, are on the top of the list from a state standpoint in that regard.”

Undercover Billionaire Episode 8: Grant Cardone encounters skepticism

The Discovery+ series Undercover Billionaire is in its eighth week and Louis Curtis   aka Grant Cardone   experiences loss, failure and what he referred to as a sloppy win.
In previous weeks, viewers watch Curtis partner with Pueblo West’s Matt Smith in hopes of opening a promotion and marketing company while simultaneously investing in real estate.
Curtis convinces Smith that to make money, the two need to find investors who are willing to front the money to purchase the infamous Kona Kai Apartments.
In this week’s episode, that deal falls through.
In a rush to get the ball rolling, Curtis asks that the owners of Kona Kai sign off on the deal by a certain day, but his aggressive tactics push the owner toward another buyer.

Pueblo West fire chief argues for rollover money for station 1 at metro board meeting

In the fourth Pueblo West Metro District board meeting of the year, the board voted unanimously on three important action items that will benefit the community.
Pueblo West Fire Chief Brian Caserta asked the board to repurpose an allocated amount of $90,000 designated for design work for Fire Station 2 to be used in conjunction with the rollover amount of $133,244 for a combined amount of $223,244 for upgrades to the living quarters at Fire Station 1.
Caserta added that small improvements have been made, but none that capture the true intent of what needs to be done at the fire station.
“What we ended up doing was turning a space that was one big open room that was a storage room for fire hose and things like that and converted it into a bedroom living space for the first three fulltime firefighters that we had living at the station for 24 hours at a time,” Caserta said.
