Carter County Car Club holds annual car show on Saturday

ELIZABETHTON â The Carter County Car Club will be hosting its annual Car Show in downtown Elizabethton this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Club President Eddie Brumitt said this will mark the 16th straight year the event has been held in downtown after a two-year run at the Borla Performance Company in south Johnson City.
âThis is our yearly fundraiser to support our childrenâs charities,â Brumitt said. He said last year the club raised $21,990. That was all donated to charities, and a lot of the money was raised during the one-day show. The rest of it was raised during the clubâs weekly Cruise-Ins. ....

Some 277 children will be getting Christmas presents this year thanks to a small business owner in Garwood.
Phil Rinaldi, owner of STAR Contracting, Inc., purchased tens of thousands of dollars in toys and accessories for kids whose parents are struggling to make ends meet in Plainfield, Bound Brook and Garwood.
Through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program, which helps to provide gifts to children in need nationwide, Rinaldi and his wife, Meg, were able to coordinate purchases and assist in distribution along with Rinaldi’s staff at STAR. ....

As the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, the world will readily welcome in a new year and Marietta Community Foundation will be saying goodbye to three of their current board members while welcoming new board additions.
Dr. Bret Frye, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board, Marcy Wesel, Secretary of the Board, and Jennifer Christy will have completed two five-year terms of service to this community.
“I have learned so much from the board members who are completing their terms with the Foundation this year,” said Heather Allender, President & CEO of the Foundation. “It’s sad to see them go I’ve had the privilege to learn from them for ten years – but I’m proud of the work they have helped us accomplish!” ....
