The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is warning drivers of a multi-day closure of a portion of SR-99, also known as Highway 99, starting June 11.
According to a Facebook post from CHP - South Sacramento announcing the major traffic alert, the closure will last for four days. The closure is scheduled to go into effect at 8 p.m., Friday, June 11 and is expected to last until 4 a.m. Wednesday, June 16.
It will start at Hwy. 99 from 47th Avenue and run to US-50 connector, also known as Hwy. 50, in Sacramento. CHP says drivers can use Interstate 5 or Sacramento Regional Transit s (SacRT) light rail service, which will be offered for free during the multi-day closure. ....

AUBURN, Calif. One woman is dead after a suspected DUI driver was involved in a rollover crash along Highway 99.
The crash happened early Sunday morning, around 3:46 a.m., along southbound Highway 99 north of Twin Cities Road, according to CHP-South Sacramento.
Arriving officers found the woman, 29 out of Stockton, ejected from a 2002 Chevy Silverado with fatal injuries. The driver, a 37-year-old man out of Stockton, was taken to a local hospital with major injuries. ....

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. The California Highway Patrol in South Sacramento is commending one man s actions after he rescued a 69-year-old driver from a sinking SUV.
According to a Facebook post from CHP South Sacramento, a 69-year-old man was driving a 2008 GMC Acadia on Twin Cities Road around 10 a.m. Thursday. South Sacramento CHP says the GMC approached a T-intersection when the driver had a medical emergency and accelerated to 50 mph. The GMC continued through the intersection and flew into the Sacramento River. ....
