Preschool to be added at Beverly Center | News, Sports, Jobs

BEVERLY In a meeting Tuesday, the Fort Frye Local Schools district buildings and grounds committee discussed the addition of a preschool at Beverly-Center Elementary and continued talks over HVAC.
The Fort Frye district will be adding a preschool into Beverly-Center Elementary to be ready and state inspected by July.
Stephanie Starcher, superintendent of the Fort Frye district, said the preschool will be called Bright Beginnings, and the slots will be on a first come first serve basis with a priority on special needs children.
Starcher said they are going to be making an effort to target disadvantaged youth with the preschool, so Elementary and Secondary Emergency Education Relief (ESSER) Funds will be used for the project. ESSER Funds were given to the Fort Frye district during the COVID-19 pandemic. ....

Fort Frye BOE looking at HVAC options | News, Sports, Jobs

BEVERLY The Fort Frye Local Schools board of education and buildings and grounds committee convened to discuss options for a new heating and cooling system at Fort Frye Middle School and High School, the employment of a new athletic director and a gap-closing service for summer recovery on Tuesday.
During the buildings and grounds committee, members of the board discussed potential heating and cooling options with representatives from VSWC Architects and Dynamix Engineering.
The companies previously conducted inspections of the middle and high school, and with that information, provided five HVAC layouts at the meeting. Seventeen classrooms are the target areas for the units to be installed. ....

Board commits to funding new facility in next 3 years
The Cassville school district is hoping to strike while the iron is hot, as the Board of Education has committed to pursuing funding for a new performing arts center in the next three years.
The board approved a motion to prioritize the facility, estimated to cost about $8 million and done in two parts, the first of which is the performing arts center itself, west of the current high school building in between the building and Partridge Drive. The second part would enclose a space between the center and the high school and create band and choir classrooms, as well as a fire corridor. ....

Fremont Public Schools could receive $3 million in additional federal funding this spring


The scope for a 2021 bond issue would be larger than any previous bond issue that the district has brought to the public before. Hypothetical bond issue scenarios brought forward to the FPS Board of Education range from $96 million to $146 million.

Fremont Public Schools could receive up to $3 million from the second round of federal COVID-19 relief funds later this spring.
The money could go toward several projects, such as providing technology to round out the district’s 1:1 initiative to completing various air quality projects in buildings across the area, according to Associate Superintendent Brad Dahl.
It’s the second round of federal funding the district has received in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, FPS received around $871,000 to address COVID-19-related issues through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed last March. ....
