There is less than a one day supply of several types of blood at Carter Blood Care s donation center in Tyler
TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Carter Blood Care says they’re facing a critical shortage of blood − one not seen in the last 30 years.
At their donation center in Tyler, the shelves, which are supposed to be filled with their blood supply, are mostly empty. Manager of Operations Jacque Decker says COVID-19 is primarily to blame for the shortage.
“Blood drives had to be canceled; we had a lot less donor turnout at our blood drives and our donor centers,” Decker said. ....

GRAPEVINE, Texas - A high school senior thought it was a scam when she was contacted about winning a car.
Carter Blood Care and Thompson Group Chevrolet awarded Megan Hunt a new Chevrolet Trax in Grapevine on Thursday.
I give blood every time they do it at the school, Hunt said. I like giving blood because it could save somebody s life.
Donations have been down because of the pandemic and Carter has been trying to come up with incentives to get people to give blood.
Everyone who donated blood December 1 - January 10 had their name automatically put into a drawing for a car. ....
