Judge Ronald Blaine Stewart passed from this life into the presence of the Savior whom he loved on April 3, at the age of 87. All who knew Stewart knew him to be a man of extraordinary kindness and integrity, intelligence and fair-mindedness.
Stewart’s long judicial career, both in military and civilian service, earned him many honors and recognitions. Stewart retired from a 30-year career in the U. S. Army having served in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps as a trial lawyer, then military judge, where he tried cases on three continents and across the United States.    
Stewart was named “The Outstanding Trial Judge in the United States” for special courts in May 1984 when he was awarded the Franklin N. Flaschner Judicial Award presented by the National Conference of Special Court Judges of the American Bar Association, an honor viewed as the “Pulitzer Prize” among judges in courts that are special, or limited jurisdiction. Judge Ronald Blaine Stewart, former three-term District Judge, 34th District, for Whitley and McCreary Counties, passed away April 3, 2021. Stewart was 87 years old.
Stewart was known for his extraordinary kindness and integrity, intelligence and fair-mindedness. Those who stood before him in his courtroom were treated with patience, making sure each understood the legal process that involved them.
Born and raised in Williamsburg in a home with no running water, no gas or electric, and no family car. Stewart loved his hometown and the people that knew him well, knowing the contribution they had made to his life. ....

Obituary: Mary "Josie" Roberts


Previous 40 year Hood River, Ore., resident Mary Josie Roberts passed away Dec. 6, 2020, in Vancouver Wash. Josie was born on March 31, 1931, and was 89 years of age at the time of her passing.
Josie was born in Gonzales Ranch, N.M., and moved to Idaho when she was 5 years old. Josie was the oldest of nine children and grew up primarily in Gooding, Idaho. Josie graduated from Shoshone High School in 1950 and shortly after enlisted in the Woman s Army Corps (WAC). For a period of time, she was stationed in Germany and achieved the rank of Sergeant. While serving, she earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Germany. She was honorably discharged on Oct. 16, 1953, and moved to Portland, Ore., where she met and ultimately married Don Roberts in 1958. While in Portland, she worked as an office manager for the U.S. Forest Service. ....
