General Motors hires new defense lead -- Washington Technology

General Motors has hired former Raytheon executive and nearly two-decade defense sector veteran Steve duMont as president of the automaker’s defense subsidiary, the company said Tuesday.
DuMont joins GM Defense in the same week that the company opened a new production facility in Concord, North Carolina to focus on the Army’s Infantry Squad Vehicle to carry troops on a light all-terrain platform.
Most recently, duMont spent 13 years at Raytheon Technologies and most recently was an executive in its intelligence and space segment. His career also includes stints at BAE Systems’ U.S. subsidiary and Boeing. ....

YUMA, Ariz. A new vehicle that the U.S. Army is acquiring to provide infantry soldiers with battlefield mobility is being tested in the Yuma Proving Ground’s harsh desert terrain in southwestern Arizona.
Testing began in early February with a goal of finishing by April, said Isaac Rodriguez, team leader for the proving ground’s combat automotive division. ....
