British Army to switch on first solar farm as part of net-zero aspiration
The British Army is progressing with the first of four solar photovoltaic farms, which will save more than £1m in energy costs and help the Army reach net-zero emissions by 2045.
A further 80 solar farms are to be introduced across the Army’s estate in the next seven years
Centrica Business Solutions has been onboarded to steer the deliver of the British Army’s first solar farm, which will be located at Army’s Defence School of Transport (DST) in Leconfield, Yorkshire.
Construction started on the 2.3MW solar farm earlier this year, with more than 4,000 solar panels set to provide the school with one third of its electricity needs. ....

To support the government’s commitment to meeting Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050, the British Army will launch defence’s first photovoltaic solar farm at the Defence School of Transport (
DST), Leconfield.
The solar array is the first of four pilot sites delivered as part of Project PROMETHEUS to increase renewable energy across the defence estate.
Spanning approximately four hectares, Centrica Business Solutions started construction of the 2.3MW solar farm earlier this year. Thirty employees are working on the project, installing 4,248 Trina Vertex panels, which is predicted to supply the ....

The British Army is to go green with its first ever training base powered by the sun. 
The Army on Wednesday announced that the Ministry of Defence’s first photovoltaic solar farm will be constructed at the Defence School of Transport (DST) in Normandy Barracks, Leconfield.
The solar array is the first of four pilot sites being delivered as part of the MoD’s Project Prometheus, which aims to increase renewable energy across the Defence Estate and is due to be completed this spring.  ....
