Fall 2021 set to be busy, celebratory year for Austin Peay military community


Clarksville NowAPSU s ROTC program is celebrating its 50th anniversary during the 2021-22 academic year.
CLARKSVILLE, TN – For years, Austin Peay State University has been Tennessee’s leading provider of higher education to military-affiliated students, with about 25 percent of enrolled APSU students having a military connection.
This fall, the university will continue to embrace its support of the military through several new programs, celebrations and scholarships.
Here are some things to look forward to this fall:
ROTC 50th Anniversary
APSU’s ROTC program, which has received the prestigious MacArthur Award eight times, is celebrating its 50th anniversary during the 2021-22 academic year. Austin Peay will kick off this yearlong commemoration during the homecoming military alumni chapter dinner at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8. ....

Scobee highlights Reserve contributions, future priorities > Air Force Reserve Command > News

Lt. Gen. Richard Scobee, chief of the Air Force Reserve and commander of Air Force Reserve Command, highlighted the contributions of the more than 70,000 Reserve Citizen Airmen during an extremely busy 2020 and shared the Air Force Reserve future priorities during the Reserve Forces Policy Board’s quarterly meeting December 9.
Throughout his speech, Scobee underscored the Air Force Reserve’s ability to deliver 20% of the Air Force’s overall operational and strategic capability with just 3% of the budget. He focused on the essential work Reserve Citizen Airmen accomplished with regard to the Department of Defense COVID-19 response and natural disaster support during 2020. ....
