Exports reviving, may be in positive territory in FY22: Commerce Secretary

Since December 2020, the country s merchandise exports are recording positive growth. In March this year, the exports rose by 60.29 per cent to USD 34.45 billion. However in 2020-21, the shipments dipped by 7.26 per cent to USD 290.63 billion.
He added that exporters have shown resilience and have covered a lot of the lost ground, after hit by Covid-19 pandemic.
The country s exports are reviving and the shipments are expected to be in the solid positive territory in this financial year, Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan said on Tuesday. He said that exports recorded a significant contraction in April last year but gradually things started improving and the shipments have entered the positive territory. ....

Statistics: Producer Price Index rises nearly 5 percent on year to March


The Producer Price Index (PPI) of industrial production in Estonia rose 4.8 percent on year to March 2021, state agency Statistics Estonia reports, primarily the result of a rise in electricity generation and the production of electronic equipment and the timber and wood products sectors.
Meanwhile the PPI, which characterizes a change in prices of industrial products manufactured in Estonia both for the domestic market and for export, fell slightly, by 0.2 percent between February and March of 2021.
Eveli Šokman, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said the PPI was most affected on year to March by the rise in prices in the production of electricity, electronic equipment and wood and timber products and in wood processing.  ....

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India will waive its 10% customs duty on imported COVID-19 vaccines, a senior government official told Reuters on Monday, as it tries to boost supplies to counter a dramatic surge in coronavirus cases.
Imports of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine are due to arrive soon and the government has also urged Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson to sell their products to India.
The official, who declined to be named, also said the government was considering allowing private entities to import approved vaccines for sale on the open market without government intervention. They could also be given the freedom to set pricing, he added. ....
