Connor Howe and Luka Karaulic each shot 75 to lead No. 20 Georgia Tech Wednesday, and Will Dickson earned his second top-15 finish in a row as the Yellow Jackets finished seventh at the Southwestern Invitational. On a cloudy day with temperatures in the low 50s, winds of 20 miles per hour and minimal rain at North Ranch Country Club, the Yellow Jackets posted a 17-over-par score of 305 Tuesday. Tech finished seventh in a field loaded with some of the nation’s top programs with a 38-over-par total of 902. The 11 of the 12 teams posted scores in double digits in relation to par Tuesday on the 6,992-yard, par-72 layout. The team that didn’t, San Diego State with a 5-over-par 293, rallied to win the team title. ....

Dickson is Tech’s top individual after 36 holes, tied for ninth place at even-par 144. THE FLATS – After playing its first tournament in nearly 10 months last weekend, Georgia Tech’s golf team travels to the West Coast this week to compete in its second event within a 10-day period, facing a heavyweight field in the Southwestern Invitational Monday through Wednesday in Westlake Village, Calif. With last spring’s schedule cut short and fall events cancelled due to COVID-19, the Jackets were left to compete in various amateur events throughout the summer and fall. Head coach Bruce Heppler moved to add two events to the front end of Tech’s spring schedule, entering his team in the Camp Creek Seminole Invitational last week (Tech finished seventh out of 10 teams) and the Southwestern Invitational. The Yellow Jackets’ slate includes seven events prior to the ACC Championship near the end of April, which will be played at the Capital City Club’s Crabapple Course in Woodstock, Ga. ....
THE FLATS – Georgia Tech swimming & diving hosted its second dual meet of the spring season, coming up short against SEC opponent No. 16/11 Alabama on Friday afternoon at McAuley Aquatic Center. The men fell 153-145, while the women lost 191-106. “Overall, I am very proud of the energy we brought to today’s meet,” said Toni M. and Richard L. Bergmark Swimming & Diving Head Coach Courtney Shealy Hart. “It was a lot of fun, especially leading into the relays. We had several great performances on the men’s side despite losing a close contest. Our women’s team gets to compete again tomorrow against Vanderbilt, and we are looking forward to using the momentum from today. Go Jackets!” ....
